For individuals with a strong family history of colon polyps and/or colorectal cancer, a different type of genetic test (testing for a rare hereditary colorectal cancer syndrome like Lynch syndrome or Familial Adenomatous Polyposis) may be more appropriate for you. If you have already had hereditary colorectal cancer testing and had a negative result, then GeneType for Colorectal Cancer can further assess your risk. If you have a pathogenic variant in a hereditary colorectal cancer gene, GeneType for Colorectal Cancer is not appropriate for you.
